A New Journey
A journey started for me in 2020 when I began a course offered through my church called Artios. Artios is a Greek word often translated to “thoroughly equipped.” The purpose of the class was to focus on theological learning, spiritual formation and discipleship. Acquiring new knowledge became a passion for me and the year long class only scratched the surface. After lots of prayer, and the encouragement of people I trust and respect, I have decided to attend Dallas Theological Seminary.
This fall I began classes for a Masters in Theology (ThM) degree. The purpose of this degree is to produce competent Bible expositors who are qualified to serve God effectively in a number of areas in Christian ministry.
I am pursing a ThM degree because I believe it would enable me to be thoroughly equipped to serve confidently in any number of ministry roles. There are so many people (Millennials and Gen Z especially) being led astray by the progressive church movement and/or the idea of universalism. As we see so often in the letters from Paul, it is far too easy for Christians to fall into false teaching. My goal is to be saturated with the truth found in scripture so I can help lead others toward the true peace and joy found in knowing God. I am especially excited to learn more about church history and how we can learn from faithful believers of the past in order to better lead the next generation.
My plan for the next few years at seminary is to devote the majority of my time to my education. I plan to have a part-time job in order to cover some of my living expenses. However, considering tuition, rent, gas, groceries, and other expenses I doubt a part-time job will cover everything. Similar to Paul in Philippians 4:11-13, I trust that I will be content in all circumstances and that God will provide what I need while I pursue my degree.
Because of this, I humbly ask that you would consider being a part of my financial support team. While any gift is a blessing, my biggest need is for monthly supporters who can give $25, $50, or $100 a month. I would love to talk with you more over the phone, on a walk, or over coffee. Would you consider joining in this adventure with me?
If the answer is yes, first of all, thank you! Second, please visit www.dts.edu/give-to-a-student/ for the easiest way to give. My student ID number is 1011866.
Thank you and I look forward to sharing more with you as I embark on this new journey!
